Teething and 26 Weeks

Isaiah got 4 molars in 2 days this week. Poor guy. He also caught a little bug - his first fever for two days, no appetite, and diarrhea (kind of). I thought it was all related to teething but he gave it to his cousin. :( Fevers are the worst! I felt so bad for him. He's over it now but his bottom canines look like their close. Ouch. At least it's happening before Maci arrives. Twelve down, Eight more to go!

As far as the pregnancy goes, I feel pretty good just really fat. I already can't wait to get back in shape. I know it's not the most important thing but as I see my face, arms, and hips filling out, I can't wait to get back to normal. The belly growth doesn't bother me since it's the clearest reminder of who's on her way. :) Almost every time I go to the store I buy her a little something. It's different how with Isaiah I was always buying practical necessities. This time, since we have all that, I'm focused on buying cute clothes and hair bows (since thats really all we need). It's fun. Lots pink, of course. :)

My Little

There is nothing like hearing my toddler giggle with the dog as he stomps down the hallway to my bedroom to tell me it's time to wake up. And no matter what time it is...8:30, 7, or 5:45...I am always so excited to see his face and tell him good morning and let him tell me about his dreams. He loves his big boy bed, by the way. He'll go in there and lay down throughout the day, line up his stuffed animals and give each one a kiss. It's also base for any monster chases we have going on upstairs. I'm so in love with this little guy. I can honestly say, aside from Darren, he is one of my best friends. How could he not be? We do everything together. Even on days where he hangs with dad to let me rest, I find myself so excited to hear the garage door open letting me know they're home.

Isaiah is so smart, so curious, so sweet, and so full of life that I can't help but explode everything day with love for this little guy. How blessed have I been to watch him and hear him grow every day? Yesterday I was re-packing up his baby clothes to move out of Maci's room and every onesie or sleeper has it's own memory. Whether it was a diaper blow-out, a sleepless night, or one of his firsts, it really does make me sad to put it away and it reminds of how fast time has gone.

I can honestly say I cherish every sleepless night, every poopy diaper, every exhausted day, every stressful tear, every kiss, smile, giggle and hug. I'm no saint I've had knock-down, drag-out, awful days. I've wanted to pull my hair out, hide in the bathroom and cry, but those moments are temporary and don't come close to the moments of joy and laughter. Being Isaiah's mom has already taught me so much about myself and how to be more kind, more understanding, more patient, and more playful. And I am beyond thrilled to share this perspective with a new, sweet little girl. I don't know a lot about anything and I'm not a parenting expert, but my kids make me better and for that, I am blessed.

Enjoying a popsicle after a swim. Also, one of his new words. As a matter a fact, I quit counting how many words he says at 25. He's reached the point where he repeats everything and puts some sentences together. He's very verbal. It's pretty funny! :)

We got a kid sized pool and my mom got me a floaty (pregnant lady's got to stay cool this summer!) and Isaiah, of course, wanted to try it out too. He's such a water baby and loves the pool and the floaty.

This seriously is so amazing because it is relaxing to me and so much fun for him - he was screaming he was having so much fun!

25 Weeks - No Drama Mama!

We love you, Maci! And we can't wait to meet you in about 15 weeks!

I have to say, I think I am way less dramatic this pregnancy. I feel slightly more aware that the world does not revolve around me nor am I the only woman to ever be pregnant. Sure, being pregnant isn't necessarily easy - you're tired, gaining weight, stretching out, nothing fits, hungry, peeing a lot, thirsty, out of breath, getting heartburn from a glass of milk, and at times, restless. But it's really not THAT bad...at least for me, I know many women who have had much tougher pregnancies. Plus, I know how quickly you aren't pregnant anymore and you're sitting at home with a brand new baby, running on very little sleep, very few showers, many cups of coffee, and bruises/sores/stitches in the most private of places.

So yes, being pregnant is a breeze in comparison. And I still am in the "easy" and "comfy" stage, even though I'm exponentially more tired this time around. First time mama's ENJOY being pregnant while it's still quiet. :) In some ways though, it is nice to not have time to pay as much attention to this pregnancy because then I don't have time to complain...as much. :)

24 Week Check Up for Maci

Here's a quick rundown of our appointment:

-heartbeat: 138 bpm
-measuring right at 24 weeks (24 cm)
-weight gain: 18 lbs (I was at 17 with Isaiah at this point)
-everything is "textbook" right now
-doc said I could jog/walk if I feel up for it but not to push as hard as I did with Isaiah
-Isaiah is a total flirt at the doctor office and likes to talk to everybody. He also played peek a boo with the curtain in the exam room. So silly :)

24 Weeks...yes, already!

*More tired than usual
*Still crampy at night
*Feeling full faster
*Some heartburn
*A little more back pain
*Maci is moving A LOT
*Isaiah learned to say Maci ("Mame")
*Feelin' pregnant and very excited :)

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

23 Weeks and Isaiah's Big Boy Bed

Yes, I'm only 23 and a half weeks...but seriously?! I am showing so much now. I get a lot more attention from strangers and am constantly asked if I need help. With Isaiah I felt like, "Leave me alone. I can handle it." With Maci I'm like, "Yes! I need so much help...do you want to clean my house while I take a nap?" My energy level is still pretty good but I do tire out pretty easily. After all, I am growing a person. I get very crampy at night (most likely from running around all day) and have really started to pay attention to my water intake. I'm usually really good about drinking half my weight in ounces but sometimes I'm so focused in on mom-mode that I lose track. And I definitely feel better when I'm fully hydrated. My hip was hurting really bad the last week or two but thankfully feels much better this week. My hips are now wider though. :)

Big bubble. I feel like Maci is much lower than Isaiah was at this point.

In other news, Isaiah is officially in a big boy bed! I can't believe it! We weren't planning on getting him in there full force until August or so, but we found some bunk beds on sale and had to take advantage of the bargain. We figured we'd just have him in Maci's room until we decided to make the switch. Instead Isaiah thought they were SO COOL that he made the switch himself. I thought the first night was a fluke because he was SO exhausted from hanging out at Nena's. It wasn't until the next night and the next night and the next night that I realized this is really happening. Two weeks later, there's no turning back! I am so thankful the transition was smooth. His doctor recommended switching by 18 months for safety reasons (once they start climbing, injuries are more likely to happen) and I completely agree with him, I just didn't think it would happen at 15 and a half! The above picture is of him playing with the box but I'll post more pictures of his super hero room soon. He's such a champ! One of his favorite things to say is "Big boy bed" now. He LOVES his new bed! Way to go, Isaiah!
