We're On A Schedule!

...well, kind of. We're definitely really close.

It's not a strict schedule, we have our off days, and there are some adjustments to be made but we're doing pretty good. Isaiah feeds at about 5 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. (bottled breast milk), and 10:30 p.m. (bottled breast milk). Sometimes he skips the 5 a.m. feeding without waking up and sometimes he wakes up but just needs to be put back to sleep.

He SLEEPS 11 or midnight to about 5 a.m., then goes back to sleep until about 9 or 10 a.m. Then he takes a nap around 11 or 11:30 for 45 minutes to an hour and then again at 2:30 or 3 for another hour. There's usually a catnap in the evening too. I haven't done sleep training (yet) - this is the schedule he put himself on. I would like to eventually get him to bed earlier and have him wake up earlier but because I'm a stay at home mama, this is working out just fine for now.

Isaiah was 11 weeks yesterday and is up to a few new things already. Monday night he grabbed his first object with both hands and pulled it to his mouth on his own - it was my cell phone! :) Last night he officially laughed out loud - the sweetest little chuckle I've ever heard! He also blows rasberries all the time. He's starting to teeter totter when he does tummy time but he still hasn't rolled over. I keep reminding myself he'll do it in his own time even though he wants to so bad! I'm practically on pins and needles waiting for the big roll!

Check out his phone grab ;)

Happy Easter!!!

After church, we did a mini home photo shoot...he didn't want to smile for any of them but his out is to die for (if I do say so myself!).

Isaiah Says "No!"

OK, OK...we know he doesn't really say "no" but about halfway through this clip I ask him if he thinks his new hat is cool. Watch what he says. :) (Also please ignore my tank top - it's not the best shot of me!)

Isaiah got a cool new hat!

10 Weeks (Almost 11!!) Update

I just wanted to quickly update all the new things Isaiah is up to...

First of all, I really have no idea what I would do without Darren. He really such a great dad! He takes over not only when I need him to but really just whenever he feels like a little father/son time. And let's be honest, mommies need breaks! I feel so lucky! Being that we are so far from family, it's been really important that we function as a team...we deserve jersies!

This last week or two I've really felt like Isaiah has grown up. Every day he has more of a personality and I feel like he's actually talking to me and telling me things instead of just fussing or crying. He's started to yell - which is funny because he does it all the appropriate times. If I leave the room or get out of his eye sight, he yells. It's almost like he's yelling, "MAAA! Where are you?!" I LOVE IT!

He also squeels when he gets excited. He tries to laugh by going "hahaha" but a real giggle has only happened while he's sleeping. At least he's having sweet dreams. His facial expressions make more sense and are usually appropriate for what's happening. He lifts one eyebrow if I have my glasses on or a hat or facial mask. If he just wants to be left alone, he frowns at me. When he wakes up or is getting his diaper changed (which he loves,) he smiles - melts my heart!

He really is sucking on his fingers and hands a lot and starting to drool like it's nobody's business - we got him some cold, teething toys and he loves them. He's still working on reaching for things, grabbing them, and putting them in his mouth - sometimes when he succeeds at grabbing something he screams because he doesn't know how to let go - it's hilarious.

Isaiah loves nursery rhymes and I sing to him all day. I added 70 songs to my ipod and yesterday I forgot to change the playlist so I started my run to Isaiah's music! :) His favorite songs right now are "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" and "John Jacob Jingle Heimerschmit." He loves to stand up and is bearing a lot of his weight on his legs. Sometimes I feel like he's growing up too fast (shouldn't he still be 2 weeks old???) but I love watching him grow and develop a personality. Now every day I'm so excited for the next - I never know what this little guy is going to surprise me with!

Isaiah Is Two Months Old!

On Friday, Isaiah had his two month check up. We CANNOT believe our baby is already two months old - life flies by when you have a baby. As if we didn't already know, we have a big boy on our hands! Isaiah weighed in at 14 lbs. 14 oz. and 23.25 inches long. That puts him in the 95th percentile for weight and the 70th percentile for height. Dr. Chu did caution us about his weight and thought maybe we should limit the amount of milk he gets for his night cap because we don't want him to have weight problems in the future. I explained to her that me and all my siblings were big babies and both his cousins were 15 lbs. at two months. She wasn't too worried after that because she's assuming genetics plays into it. I thought it was kind of silly for her to be worried because it's not like Darren and I force feed him - but she of course, doesn't know that! Bottom line: if he's hungry, I'm going to feed him. :)

After going over his weight/height, etc. Dr. Chu had him perform a little tummy time. Isaiah really doesn't like tummy time very much but I do give it to him several times a day. He would much rather have tummy time be tummy to tummy with mommy and daddy. He ended up fussing while doing it for Dr. Chu but lifted his head nice and high and almost rolled over! She didn't let him to continue to roll because he would have rolled off the table but he still got close. This made her worry even less about his weight because he's still able to move and groove like he should. The weight might mean it takes a little longer to roll over but we'll just keep practicing.

After the doctor was done, he got three shots and one oral vaccination. Poor baby! He took the shots like a champ but was so fussy after we got home! Isaiah doesn't cry much so it was so hard for Darren and I to hear him scream for an hour before he fell asleep. There was nothing we could do - the poor baby didn't feel good! He slept most of the afternoon and woke up in a great mood.

Here's the latest on our baby boy:

Diet: Mostly mommy's milk. He gets one bottle of either formula or breast milk at night. We usually start with 4 oz. at 7 or 8 p.m. then by 10 p.m. he usually wants 4 more ounces. So yes, he is a big eater!

Sleeping: He usually sleeps 11 p.m. - 5 a.m. and 6 - 9 or 10 a.m. Then he'll take at least one long nap during the day and a lot of cat naps.

Motor Skills: He grabbed a hanging rattle on his floor gym and is reaching for anything he can grab - mommy's necklaces, hair, nose. He uses the mobile on his bouncer as a punching bag. He also is starting to bring his hands together and sucking on his fists like crazy!

Rolling over: not yet but he's gotten close a few times.

Smiling: ALL THE TIME! He really is such a happy baby - it makes us feel like great parents seeing him so happy!

Likes: looking at himself in mirrors (he really gets a kick out of himself), ceiling fans, bathroom fans, bath time, getting his diaper changed, nursing, his floor gym, bright lights, being held upright, being naked, peeing and pooping on mom, the Bjorn carrier, going for walks, and having "conversations" with mommy and daddy.

Dislikes: falling asleep on his own (he prefers being rocked), tummy time, his car seat (unless the car is moving, he ain't having it!),

Trying to roll over - back to front

Waiting for Dr. Chu!

But I don't wanna go to the doctor's!
