24 Weeks...Getting Excited!

Not that I wasn't before but I'm really starting to get excited! This is going by so fast and I just can't wait for the little bugger to get here. I've been looking at my pictures from my first trimester and I was SO TINY! I can't even believe it! I remember feeling so bloated and having trouble buttoning my pants but seriously, that was nothing compared to 10 inches later! Woowee! And we still have many inches to add. :) Right now I'm feeling pretty good - definitely getting tired more quickly and boy oh boy, do I have cramps and my back is starting to hurt. I also had my first experience with heartburn/indigestion. Darren blames the hot sauce but I say it wouldn't be a problem if my stomach wasn't pushed up in my esophagus! :)

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
